California car drivers and their passengers will always be vulnerable when the vehicle must be maneuvered in traffic among commercial trucks and buses. These large vehicles cannot stop instantly, and a big rig driver who is distracted for only a brief moment can be caught unaware if a light turns red. Coming to a sudden halt in front of a semi can have severe consequences, including the possibility of suffering personal injury or even death.

Such circumstances might have caused the death of one and injuries to another person in Santa Clarita. A spokesperson of the sheriff’s station says the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at an intersection on the Sierra Highway. According to an accident report, a woman was stopped behind a bus at a red traffic light when a tractor-trailer approached from behind.

For reasons yet to be determined, the big rig driver failed to stop and smashed into the rear of the car. The impact pushed the car into the transit bus, causing minor injuries to a passenger on the bus. Sadly, the driver of the car suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene.

Whenever one person’s negligence is deemed to be the cause of personal injury or death of another person, financial relief may be pursued by the injured victim or the surviving family members of the deceased person. When seeking recovery of damages, a personal injury or wrongful death claim can be filed in a California civil court. However, the assistance of an experienced personal injury attorney will be helpful in the establishment of negligence and the navigation of the lawsuit.
